TOPIC: Inter Partes Review Strategy

Attorney Todd R. Walters, Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC

Attorney Walters focuses his practice on many phases of intellectual property law, with a special emphasis on inter partes matters before the PTAB, and in federal courts representing clients in well over one hundred inter partes matters. He has worked on all types of technologies, including matters in the biotechnology, chemical, electrical, mechanical, and pharmaceutical fields. He has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© consecutively since 2017 and was named the Best Lawyers ® 2020 Patent Law “Lawyer of the Year” in Washington, D.C.

Attorney Thomas G. Eschweiler, Eschweiler and Potashnik LLC

Attorney Eschweiler was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1997 and has been registered to practice before the USPTO since 1992.  Prior to being in private practice, he worked at Texas Instruments as an engineer and then in the Patent Acquisition and Enforcement Activity group. His article Ford v. Lemelson and Continuing Application Laches, 79 J. Pat. & Trademark Office Soc’y 401 (1997) was relied on by the Federal Circuit in establishing the doctrine of prosecution laches in Symbol Technologies, Inc. v. Lemelson, 277 F.3d 1361 (Fed. Cir. 2002). In addition to his work representing clients, Attorney Eschweiler has been appointed a Special Master for the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio for purposes of claim construction and other intellectual property issues.

TOPIC: How litigation finance changed patent law and provided new enforcement opportunities.

Attorney Christopher J. Lee, Founding Partner at Lee Sheikh Megley & Haan LLC

Attorney Lee’s client base has included Fortune 500 multi-national corporations, emerging technology companies, individual innovators and their companies, and private equity firms. He has served as trial counsel in jury and bench trials in high-stakes patent, trademark, trade secret, breach of non-disclosure agreements, unfair competition and related business torts litigation before federal and state trial and appellate courts. Some of those trials led to verdicts in eight and nine-figure sums for his clients and decisions that are often cited by courts and other attorneys. He was recognized by Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) as one of the world’s foremost IP strategists in the 2018 list of IAM Strategy 300 -The World’s Leading IP Strategists.

Attorney Russell J. Genet, Director of Longford Capital Management, LP

Attorney Genet has assisted companies in defending and monetizing intellectual property rights in a wide array of industries, including: electronics, computers, software, telecommunications, medical devices, and many others. He has significant experience litigating complex intellectual property matters in federal courts throughout the United States, before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and in the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He was recognized as an Illinois Super Lawyer for IP Litigation in 2017.
