Keynote Speaker: Jordan Walbesser, Director of Legal & Business Affairs at Mattel (visiting from Buffalo, New York)

Lights, camera, legal action! Jordan Walbesser from Mattel will discuss how the iconic brand is exploring the edges of IP, including how Mattel is creating and protecting IP outside of the Dreamhouse and in the new playgrounds of Web3 and Generative AI. He'll also discuss the legal complexities behind the biggest blockbuster in recent history in a pink-colored presentation of enlightenment, where IP meets innovation, and Barbie takes center stage in the legal spotlight!

Jordan is a Director of Legal Business & Affairs at Mattel where he helps develop Mattel’s digital gaming, web3, and connected play strategies and products. Under his guidance, Mattel was the first major toy company to market, auction, and sell NFTs as virtual collectibles. Jordan also leads legal efforts at Mattel related to strategic product and brand partnerships throughout Mattel and its global subsidiaries, including Fisher-Price, Mega, and American Girl.

Jordan earned his BS in computer engineering and JD at the University at Buffalo. He was appointed to the steering committee of the Wilson Center’s Digital Asset Forum and was named one of the University at Buffalo’s Ten Most Innovative Alumni.
